Side Effects of Cell Phones on Your Body

In this era of technology where we can have an update of about everything just in clicks having that tiny-winy thing called “cell phone” in our hands. But have you ever wonder, too much of dependency on mobile phones have just spoiled us in a very worse manner? While making our life easier and handy, almost overtaking common routines and notes, where mobile journalism is a new achievement, social media is undertaking the emotional balance, gyms are converted into mobile apps, depending too much on the small device in our pockets, are we heading the right trail?

I remembered a few years back one of my college professors gave up the use of cell phones due to ethical issues of her ongoing research on “adverse effects of cell phones on human health”. I might have called her old school then but keeping up the research updates regularly, now, I support her cause of abandoning the tiny time bomb we are unaware of and keep carrying all day long even to our bedsides during sleep. The cell phones are negatively impacting our life.

Below is the list of proven studies from researchers about the ill effects of cell phone on our health.

  1. Infested with pathogens: A cell phone can carry more bacteria’s than your toilet seat. The device is most commonly used, remains unclean, and transfers the germs everywhere we touch.
  2. Affecting eyes: spending hours on reading, playing games and other activities can drain our eyes, rendering them restless, irritation and blur vision, low eyesight and much more.
  3. Stress: Cell phones keep a constant urge of checking in on social media status and updating status, sleep disturbances and regulate mental health issues.
  4. Sleep deprivation: The blue light of cell phones is altering the circadian rhythm of body and the irresistible urge of using the cell phones even while in bed does affect the big issue of sleeplessness in adverse case insomnia.
  5. Disconnecting socially: While keeping you busy in checking out someone’s social profile we actually tend to be more disconnected to people sitting next to us.
  6. Insensitivity: Well a social disconnection does make you insensitive to normal emotions. For example, how sensitive does it sound when somebody uploading a selfie with a dead grandparent on Facebook feeling remorse and people like the post and feeling sad too? Doesn’t it sound like a compulsive disorder? I highly recommend people like that to take a few sessions with a psychiatrist.
  7. Negative emotions: Well apart from stress there are more negative emotions linked with the use of cell phone addiction. People desire the new updates and new means any highlighting stuff, less informative, more censored and anything non-sense, which eventually brings in the issue i.e. the misuse of social media, a kind of negative emotion.
  8. Brain tumors and nerve damage: The major ill effect of mobile phones or any radiating device is cancer. Consistent use of cell phones, talking for long hours emits radiations affecting the brain processing, despite the weakening of memory it also causes the increased risk of acoustic neuroma and glioma, also occipital neuralgia a condition of nerves of head and spine becoming compressed and inflamed.
  9. Damage to hearing: The emitting radiations from cell phones affect the auditory vesicles of the inner ear. Also, the loud music damages the hearing ability.
  10. Weight gain: Overly dependent on the cell phones means less activity of the body and hormonal imbalance due to radiations and causing a problem of weight gain.

Therefore, it is suggested to reduce the usage of cell phones to a minimal amount for a healthy and happy lifestyle.
