It is much worse than anyone ever thought. Heart diseases are increasing at an alarming rate in the country. And we have no one else to blame but ourselves. While factors like age, hereditary and gender lead to inevitable cardiovascular diseases, there is a visible hike in people acquiring heart problems due to lifestyle preferences.

In no time, India will have the maximum count of people suffering from coronary artery disease. In the population of 1.2 billion people, approximately 45 million already suffer from various cardiovascular disorders. Surprisingly, the reason is their lack of interest in lifestyle and hygiene. By 2030, nearly 36% deaths can be due to heart diseases, say reports. The obsession of Indians with oily street foods is the reason to find several cases regarding improper diet. The accumulation of LDLs (low density Lipoproteins) can cause blockage in arteries. Several such cases were recorded.

Major Target – Urban Life

People in the urban sector are more prone to heart diseases. The reason being their unhealthy eating habits, increased stress levels and lack of physical exercise. On estimation, 70% of the people suffering from heart disorders come from urban lifestyle. With the modern westernization, the concept of sticking to TV series with a packet of chips and coke can cost you more than you imagined. Unless you go out for a run, heart diseases are just across the lane to attack.

Irrespective of Age and Gender –

It is usually believed men are more affected by heart diseases than women. People post 50 years are known to show symptoms of cardiovascular disturbances. Now, the equations seem to have changed. Due to the sedentary lifestyle of youth these days, cases of heart disorders in youngsters are increasing (both male and female). How is the country safe if its youth isn’t?

Sugar? No, Please!

As per reports, the major cause of heart diseases is Diabetes. It is important to have a control on sugar consumption to avoid further complications. Diabetes leads to high blood pressure, cholesterol and irregular lipid balance. Insulin Independent Diabetes (type-2) is majorly caused because of lack of physical activity.

People who have diabetes in the family tree must be extra cautious in food habits, lifestyle, medicine intake and proper sleep. You must control the intake of sugar with regular checkups.

Other Disorders

Other major diseases like Hypertension and Diabetes can lead to Coronary diseases. Almost 50.8 million people in India are suffering from Diabetes (type-1 and 2). This happens to be the largest count in the world. Hypertension is usually left undiagnosed and leads to Heart failure. The people from the IT sector and software life are more affected by these diseases due to less physical activity.

The Heart is the vital organ which ensures the welfare of the other organs of the body. Thus, it becomes necessary that we pay attention to its needs. Better late than never, Indians must start ‘Listening to their heart’ and do the best for it.
