Metabolic rate basically refers to the amount of energy required by the body to carry out the regular functions. BMR measures the metabolic rate of the body. Calculating BMR is comparatively difficult.  BMR calculation differs as per the gender also.One can use tools available online or can even refer to an expert medical practitioner. The formula generally used was given way back in 1918, called Harris Benedict Equation and was revised in 1948 which then gave better results. BMR is a dynamic statistics of the bid. It usually reduces with the increasing age.
